"Blue Oval" big blockperformance is alive and wellat Air Flow Research with amuch needed clean sheetredesign of the aging BBFcylinder head. Starting withthe needlessly large OEM portour design team decreasedoverall runner size whilegiving it a more consistentcross sectional area. Thischange is designed to increasepeak power while notablyboosting the torque,responsiveness and fuelefficiency. We then carefullyshaped the combustion chamberand positioned the valves tocompliment intake and exhaustport design while efficientlyutilizing the cylinder bore.The improvement in valvepositioning allows us toaddress the "Achilles Heel" ofthe BBF head, the exhaustport. By filling the floor ofthe exhaust port withoutraising the height we haveimproved high flow lift whileincreasing flow at low and midlifts, achieving a 75% intaketo exhaust flow ratio with ourexhaust port in the stocklocation reaching 275 cfm. Thehigh flow stock exhaustlocation allows for stockheader and chassis fitment,but for customers with moreroom AFR offers their BBFcylinder head with the exhaustport raised .250".
AFR's285cc heads feature 100% CNCported intake, exhaust &chambers, A356 aluminiumcastings and high qualitycomponents throughout withstandard or .250" raisedexhaust port locations.Recommended for moreaggressive street/strip orracing builds withdisplacements up to 512 cubicinches, operating up to 6500RPM.
