AFR is proud to introduceour new 245 NPP (no pushrodpinch); best suited for maxeffort applications, butlarger displacement 427+ pumpgas engines could considerthis head as well. Thisexciting product representsour best flowing 23 SBChead to date and while flownumbers may reflect a verygood 18 head of thepast, this head is still aconventional direct bolt onnon-raised runner intake portconfiguration. It will dropon your 23 short blockas easily as our 227 or 235SBC product and in factshares identical valvecenterlines and rocker studlocations to both of thoseheads. However, unlike the227 and 235 heads, thisproduct will not accept studmount style rockers and ashaft mount rocker systemwith a .180 offset intakelifter is required. Largerdiameter 3/8" pushrods fitwithout additionalclearancing. This isprimarilydue to the fact we enlargedand widened the pushrod pinchremoving that checkpoint inthe entrance of the intakeallowing us to design a portwith a more direct shot atthe back of the valve thatalso has a more consistentcross sectional area andvelocity profile. Inaddition, this head comesstandard with a 3/4 inchdeck, 2.125 intake and 1.600exhaust. The exhaust port andbolt pattern are raised .250over GM L98 head(seefootnotes here), this rarelyaffects header or chassisfitment.
