Purpose of the cold start valve is to inject additional fuel into the manifold when starting a cold engine. This additional fuel is mandatory to overcome the high frictional resistance in the cold engine.
The amount of injected fuel is regulated by a thermo switch or a thermo-time switch. Therefore no additional fuel is injected when starting an already warm engine.
