H-Series Bearings

Thesebearings are identified by aletter H in the part numbersuffix. Part numbering isbased on the same core numberas the standard passenger carparts for the sameapplication. These bearingswere developed primarily foruse in NASCAR type racing,but are suitable for alltypes of competition engines.

H series bearings havea medium level ofeccentricity, high crush, androd bearings have a hardenedsteel back and thin overlay.These bearings also haveenlarged chamfers for greatercrankshaft fillet clearanceand are made without flashplating for better seating.Bearings with .001" extraclearance are available forstandard size shafts andcarry the suffix HX" (X =extra clearance). Rodbearings are available withor without dowel holes (HD =with, H = without), mainbearings are available withstandard 180 degrees upperhalf grooving and with full360 degrees grooving (H = 180degrees, HG 360 degrees). UseH series bearings withcrankshafts that haveoversize fillets and whereengines run in the medium tohigh RPM range. H seriesbearings should be used ifcontact patterns obtainedwith P series parts are toonarrow. Contact patternsshould ideally cover 2/3 to3/4 of the bearing surface.See accompanying contactpattern diagrams. If youaren't sure which type ofperformance bearing to startwith, the H series bearingwill be your best choice.

Please note: Some "H"series bearings will nolonger be available withenlarged chamfers. Instead,the bearings will be narrowedin place of the enlargedchamfer to provide greatercrankshaft fillet clearance.The new narrowed bearingswill be available with a "HN"suffix and will be replacingthe standard "H" suffix partnumber.
