Hughes Performance isproud to present its allbillet planetary gear set foraluminium Powerglides -- witha 1.76:1 gear ratio that'sideal for today'sbig-cubic-inch motors. Thisextremely stout gear setfeatures new E9310 gears(eight pieces), a new forgedring gear a new forgedplanetary housing, 9310 pins,and new washers and needlebearings. The forged billetoutput shaft offers excellenttorsion memory, which meansyou can twist it, but theyvirtually can't break it --and it's available in long,medium (4 link dragster ) and"shorty" versions.
Other aftermarket companiesonly offer planetary setswith steeper gears, butHughes knows they just don'twork as well as 1.76's withthe torque output of the bigmotors today -- not tomention the hard-hit/softtransition torque convertersand improved tire compounds.
We have had so muchsuccess with this assembly,we nowhave an even higher lowgear ratio. We have releaseda 1.69 to 1 low gearset,which will give you an evendeeper low gear ratio. thisis even more ideal for thehigher horsepower and torqueoutputs of today's motors. Inaddition, we havemanufactured these gears witha spur (straight) cut designwith even more strength forabsorbing more horsepower andtorque than ever before! Thedesign also eliminates mostof the end thrust of helicalunits which allows for higherm.p.h. in most cases.
In addition, we have a 1.80to 1 low gearset, giving youthree selections of gearratios for most any type dragracing, no matter whatweight, horsepower or hot rodyou race.
