The Bosch LSU4.2 wide-bandO2 sensor (shipped as part ofthe LM-1 kit) is rated tooperate at an exhaust gastemperature of 1300F,and a sensor housingtemperature of 900F(measured at the bung) formaximum accuracy and control.When either of theseoperating temperature rangesis exceeded, the sensor canno longer be accuratelycontrolled. Further,operating at or over thesetemperatures for any lengthof time can significantlyreduce the lifetime of thesensor. The LM-1 is designedto display an error messageunder these conditions(currently 08- Sensor TimingError) rather than provideinaccurate readings. For someturbo vehicles, rotaryengines, and other setups,this error message can beencountered with annoyingfrequency.
