These Head Gaskets Do NotRequire O-rings in the blockor head, and they require noadditional sealant. PatentedIntegral Combustion Sealsfound only on ICS Titan headgaskets take the place ofO-rings in the block or head,with an added benefit. Theillustration shows how thesolid gasket body is cut andseparated for insertion of astainless O-ring wire.Primary combustion sealing isachieved by loadconcentration from theinserted wire as in the caseof an O-ringed block. Inaddition, the upper and lowerflanges of the ICS combustionseal remain open toward thecylinder allowing thepressure of combustion toforce them against the blockand head.
Extremecylinder pressure can causethe head to lift, in thiscase the upper and lower sealflanges trap high pressuregases forming a secondarycombustion seal.
