The externalresidual valve traps fluidfrom the valve to the brakecaliper- allowing for aquicker pedal. Drum brakesmust have a 10 lbs. residualvalve to operate properly.Some disc brake applicationsrequire a 2 lb. residualvalve. Brake fluid willalways settle at the lowestpoint in the brake system;hence, disc brakeapplications where the mastercylinder is mounted lowerthan the calipers a 2 lbs.valve is employed. Eachexternal residual valve ismanufactured from billetaluminium and is tapped1/8"-NPT into both ends.
