Car Cleaning & Detailing Tips
Washing your car is one of those jobs that you have to do on a regular basis in order to keep your vehicle in top condition and protect the paintwork from the often adverse weather conditions that it gets subjected to.
Once you’ve given your car a good wash and cleaned the interior, you feel great when you next get into it. However, there will always be annoying little spots that you might have missed and that will stand out as a bit of an annoyance.
Here are some top tips to make sure that your car is looking its best after you clean it.
Tips For The Exterior Of Your Car
When cleaning the exterior of your car, here are some tips on areas that might get missed during a regular wash. Plus, some detailing tips to make your car shine.
- Remember to clean the wiper blades. Lift the wiper blades up and wipe the rubber blades to remove any residue. Use a soft microfibre cloth as this helps to pick up any dirt and lint that may be attached to the blades. This also helps to preserve the life of your blades and ensures that they work effectively next time it rains.
- Don’t forget to clean the door jambs. There’s nothing worse than opening the door of your nice clean car and noticing that the door jambs are still dirty. You can easily rinse these off while you’re washing the exterior of your vehicle.
- Make sure you wash and dry the windows. If the windows aren’t dried off after washing, they can end up with streaks and watermarks which make your car look dirty. Use a chamois to dry them after washing your car.
- Rinse the underside of your car. Dirt and mud from the road can often stick to the underside of your car. This can lead to excessive wear and tear and erosion of things like your muffler.
- Give the wheels a good clean. You’ll be amazed at how much brake dust and debris from the road collects around your wheels. You can hose this off quite easily with a little pressure.
- Add some shine to your tyres. Coating your tyres with a tyre shine product will make a huge difference to the total look of your vehicle.
Tips For The Interior Of Your Car
When wiping down the interior of your car to remove dust, give special consideration to these areas:
- The sun visor. Pull your visors down and wipe them with a microfibre cloth to remove dust that usually gathers there.
- The glove compartment. Open up the glove compartment and give it a good wipe down as plenty of dust and dirt can gather in there.
- The boot. Don’t forget to clean out the boot when you’re cleaning your car’s interior. Vacuum the carpet and wipe down all the surfaces with a soft microfibre cloth.
In Summary
When it comes to cleaning your car, remember all the spots that are usually forgotten to ensure that you end up with a nice clean vehicle once you’re finished.
